Etymology
From the Greek Ἰησοῦς (Iesous), which is a Hellenized form of the Hebrew name יְהוֹשֻׁעַ (Yehoshua) or its shortened form יֵשׁוּעַ (Yeshua), meaning "The Lord is salvation" or "The Lord saves."
